Emma ‘Emzy’ Lawrie

Hi, I’m Emma Lawrie! A Character Designer, Storyboarder, and Storyteller based in Scotland!

Originally from Stirling, I have been drawing as long as I can pick up a pencil, and telling stories galore before even then. Exploring themes, topics and characters has always been my favourite, so I’ve naturally always leaned towards Character Design and Storyboarding, as well as dabbling in some visual development.

I work on a lot of projects, both Personally and Collaboratively, and have enjoyed the challenges and opportunities that have come with both. I directed the 2026 DJCAD Graduate Film ‘A Grave Robbery’, which not only explores themes of greed and revenge in a zany wrapping, but comes from a place of passion with its historical setting. It is no secret to those who know me that I love history and Scottish culture stemming from my childhood of my history-loving mum and dad taking me to all sorts of museums and locations, and I will find any way possible to incorporate those interests into my work.

Personality is at the heart of everything I do. I look forward to discovering opportunities for me in the future with character and soul at the forefront of it all, just how I like it.
