OLYMPIAD

The City of Olympiad is the home of heroism, and in 2015 the newest students at the top hero academy start the next chapter of their lives. What they don’t know is the dangers that await them, as a powerful villain threat emerges.

Character Design

Olympiad is a populated world full of characters, so my character design work for this project focuses on polished work for the main cast, and conceptual work for the people that appear around them.

Mitch is the story’s protagonist. A hot-headed hero prodigy and the son of two of the biggest heroes in the world, Mitch has spent his whole life in the spotlight and is tired of being treated different because of it. Attending AVAH is the next step in his path, and he is determined to never sway from his goals - but the genuine friendships he makes may just end up changing him for good.

Taiyo Kimura is a bubbly new classmate of Mitch’s, originally from Japan and with no hero ties of her own who could not be less like him. She has come from nothing, and is determined to make something for herself, always believing the best in others and providing Mitch the type of kindness he needed from his first friend.

Armani Morelli is a mysterious boy from a rich sicilian family. He is a new classmate of Mitch, and his arrogance, egotism and genuine rude nature makes the two of them instant rivals. Armani is strange - he seems to have no heroic qualities at all, and it begs the question; why is he there at all?

Mark is a new student studying Gadget and Weapon Invention at the school. He is unwaveringly cheerful and always there to lend a hand to anyone in need - but above all of that, he is Mitch’s estranged childhood friend. Their reunion has Mark dragged into the world of heroism he never asked to be a part of.

Various concepts of characters that would appear in the action-packed world of Olympiad. Prominently appearing are Ayame and Micah - the city’s biggest heroes, and Mitch’s divorced parents; while their son is settling in at school, these two are dealing with a serious villain problem where they are forced to work together.

Storyboarding

This is Scene #1 of Olympiad’s pilot. In this sequence we meet our protagonist Mitch, back when he was little. He is having a heart to heart with his dad - the famous hero Micah Fernsby, about what a hero truely is, and what kind of hero he wants to be when he’s older.

The start of Scene #2. Skipping forward to 2015, Mitch is now 16, and it is the move-in day at Arcane Valley Academy of Heroism, where he will now be attending. He is greeted at the gates by a mass of reporters, all clamouring to see the son of Zen and Caligo; but his mind is elsewhere.
